Kelly Winn, senior at Castle View High School was recently selected by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock as its Student of the Month for October.

In addition to being ranked number one in her class with a 4.0 grade point average, Winn is active in many areas of her school, including the CVHS Technology Students Association, varsity track and field and the cross-country team.

Outside of school Winn is a long-time member of the Girl Scouts and 4-H. She also was a member of the 5280 Junior Olympic Archery Development Team.
She has won multiple honors in Girl Scouts and 4-H. In school she has earned an academic letter, Engineering Student of the Year and Stem Student of the Year multiple times.
 
She has also won recognition for her performance in the school orchestra.
 
Winn was introduced to the club by Castle View Principal James Calhoun. Dr. Calhoun said Winn’s teachers had nothing but praise for the student whom they said had unlimited potential. They described Winn as one who has a strong work ethic, is a good person and who is inquisitive, intelligent and always moving forward, always exploring new things.

Winn told the club she plans to pursue engineering and science in college. She said she her top choices for school would be the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy or the University of Colorado at Boulder.
 
She said she would like to have a career as an officer in the military as an aeronautical engineer.
