Madison Malsch, senior at Castle View High School, has been named the Rotary Student of the Month for September.

Malsch, with a GPA of 4.1 and very active in the school and the community, was presented to the Rotary Club of Castle Rock by CVHS Principal James Calhoun.

Malsch has been in student government for three of the four years at the school and is Student Body President. She was her class president her junior year.

She also has been in the National Honor Society her junior and senior years and belonged to the CVHS Medical Club. She also was a student advisory member and a member of the school’s Interact Rotary youth group.

Malsch also won Student of the Year honors in social studies and math and won Academic letters her first three years of high school.

Her community service included working at the Douglas County Horse Show, serving on the Douglas County Student Advisory Group and a mission trip to Guatemala where she helped build houses for families.

In her essay submitted with the Student of the Month application, Malsch said the biggest lesson she learned by doing community service was that not only will it be rewarding to you, others also will benefit.
