Olivia Engobor, senior at Castle View High School, has been named the Student of the Month for March 2012 by the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.
Engobor has been very active in the theater department at the high school. She has been vice president of the International Thespian Society for the last two years, in the National Honor Society for the 2012-2013 school year, in the French Honor Society for two years, and has worked in the Castle View Theater Company all four years of her high school tenure.
She also has won National Individual Showcase qualification for two consecutive years and has been published in two editions of “Dramatics” magazine for her work in theatrical costumes.
She has done an internship at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and carries a 3.8 grade point average.
In addition, she has completed community service work in the Douglas County community and in November of 2010 completed a mission trip to Africa to help provide healthcare to local villagers.
James Calhoun, principal at Castle View, introduced Engobor to the club and said her passion and dedication to theater and the costume and design needed for productions made her a vital part of the success of the school’s theater program.
He said in many productions Engobor has made all of the costumes and that she is a great leader and respects all students. He said her teachers called her a great asset in any class and that she has the ability to make people in her group understand complex issues.
Engobor grew up in Africa and moved to the United States in 2003. She has attended Castle View High School for four years.
She said she hopes to continue her passion for theater and costume design when she goes to university. She has been accepted at several schools but has not decided which she will attend.
