Brianna Ott, senior at Castle View High School, has been named the Student of the Month for October at the Rotary Club of Castle Rock.
Ott was introduced to the club recently by Castle View High School Principal James Calhoun.
Calhoun said Ott, who carries a 4.0 grade point average and is ranked in the top five of her class, was a student who showed enthusiasm, was hard working and a role model for others in the school.
Ott was heavily involved in restructuring the school’s TV station, CVTV, so it was coordinated with the school’s newspaper and yearbook.
“She has been one of the most responsible and hard working editors we have ever had,” Calhoun said.
He said Ott also works hard to help others. She has lunch regularly with special needs kids and treats them as equals, he said. She also has an interest in sports medicine and has made valuable contributions to the school’s sports program.
Outside of school, Ott has become involved in a Horseback Miracles program that works with special needs kids.
Ott told the club she became friends with people in the Horseback Miracles program and then expanded it to cover special needs kids at schools.
Ott said she plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado or the University of Colorado where she will major in speech. She said she plans to continue working with special needs people.
